I've been working hard to redecorate my dining room. As you may recall from this post, I've already painted tone-on-tone horizontal stripes on my walls, embellished some curtain panels with ribbon and recovered my dining room chairs in a black and ivory striped fabric. My next step is to add some color to the room.
In order to find some inspiration, I headed to Google Images and typed in "black and ivory" rooms. Guess what? The only images that I found were black and white rooms. I didn't mind though, I love black and white rooms. They are so timeless.

Sigh. Those are all gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteGreat images! I love that last photo and the wallpaper wall behind the bed. As far as color to add? Well, as you know, it's pretty much an open field since you're working with neutrals and I have a LOT of trouble making up my mind when that's the case. :-) I think it would be great fun to add a real punch of color though. I'm really liking turquoise right now, and saffron, and orange (not a fan of it with black though - except for Halloween :-)), sassy greens and... see what I mean? If I come across some images that I think would be helpful, I'll let you know. What colors do you like?

I like the turquoise in some the last pictures. Or since it is a dining room (and blue is often an unappetizing color) yellow would be awesome.
ReplyDeleteI like the last picture the best. I think some sour apple green & turquoise accents would look great!
ReplyDeleteOhhh how I love that black & white! But then, you can never go wrong with such classics. I'm with Mary, apple green is the best accent for me.
ReplyDeleteAfter my post today and seeing so much color inspiration from one home, my color of choice would also be turquoise. I can't wait to see the finished product
ReplyDeleteI am in love with the third image. The lamps, pillows, the rug....love it!
ReplyDeleteI had just decided, 100% sure, set in concrete, that I would take my decorating down the "relaxed beach-house" direction....and then I viewed your post!...argh, I am a tormented soul, what's a girl to do!!!
ReplyDeleteHope you found some more great blogs to follow.

I love all of your photos. They are all so inspiring! Can't wait to see what you do. BTW, I am still loving what you did with your curtains!!
ReplyDeletei really want to do black, ivory and a kelly/limey green for our master bedroom. I found these awesome botanical prints (green ferns with an ivory mat and a black frame!) that i am going to base my entire room on! love these ideas though .. (let it be bookmarked!)
ReplyDelete:)
I LOVE those rooms. Black and white together is my favorite look. I don't think I could get my boyfriend to agree to anything that bold, though. Maybe if we win the lottery!
ReplyDeleteHappy Saturday SITS Sharefest!
ReplyDeleteLove the photos. I like black and white also. I am partial to blues and greens, although red would really pack a punch :)
Oh, I'm so indecisive too. I love what you're doing with your dining room (the drapes are gorgeous). I like the idea of apple green too but also with it being fall and Christmas coming up, a dark red was what came to my mind. I can't wait to see it all come together!
ReplyDeleteAugh, I'm right there with ya! We are having such a hard time with our dining room. It's such a sad room right now. Can't wait to see what to do. What ever it is, I'm sure it will be fabulous!
