Deckin' the Halls
While many people like to hit the malls for Black Friday, you won't find me in that crowd. My annual day-after-Thanksgiving tradition is to put up my tree and deck the halls at the old Strictly Simple Style abode. There may be bargains to be had at retailers across the city, but I'd rather be blasting the holiday music and getting my house all swanked up for the season. While I'm at it, I will be sure to catch the special holiday episodes that will be playing on HGTV. From 9:30 am.-3:00 p.m, HGTV will be playing a variety of Christmas themed episodes. At 8:00 p.m., "Family, Food and Holiday Fun" will be running. This episode features everyone's favorite, Candace Olsen. At 8:30, David Bromstadt will be redecorating a family's living room and getting it ready for the holidays on "A Colorful Holiday". I know what I'll be doing Friday night!
How about you, are you addicted to the Christmas specials on HGTV?
I will be taking the rest of the week off to spend with family and friends and of course, to decorate for the holidays! I will be back Monday, hopefully with a post about my holiday decor. I hope that you all have a very happy Thanksgiving.

I love Christmas specials.Every year new ideas and every year little better.I used to deck my halls and all that stuff, but now I do it discreetly due to my mom being JW and I just can't handle going through the guilt every year.
ReplyDeleteSo I live through TV.
I'm gonna be doing what you're doing too! Kindred spirits! And let's light a fire too!

Don't get to watch as much HGTV as I used to and didn't know about the special. Thanks for telling me though, because I'm definitely going to set the TIVO NOW!

Can I get the Hgtv special on my computer?
ReplyDeleteI am with you I would much rather deck the halls than be amongst the super busy friday shopping.

ReplyDeleteStopping by from SITS
I wish we had HGTV here in Australia!! I am so jealous.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have fun decorating and I look forward to seeing your pictures.
Best wishes, Natasha.
Hi Karen! I avoid the malls today too. I had to work anyway and then I finally got primer on the bathroom floor! I'm so jealous. I'd love to be decorating! I can't wait to see your beautiful home all decked out! :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a happy Thanksgiving!

I had really good intentions of doing what you did...but I got sucked into shopping a bit! So now today let the decorating begin...and hopefully some HGTV holiday specials are still on!! Love your blog...stopping by from SITS! Going to follow you!
ReplyDeleteMr. Fairway puts up the lights the day after Thanksgiving, and the girls and I start our annual holiday baking. Seems much saner than Black Friday, doesn't it? SITS sent me by, and I'm glad they did. Happy SITS Saturday Sharefest!

Stopping by from SITS!
ReplyDeleteThat picture you have in this post... sigh... that's exactly how I dream of my house looking at Christmas! This year, for the first time, all our decorations will be at least 3 feet off the ground... we've got a toddler in the house!
I'm also an HGTV addict, but that's a year-round obsession. I could watch House Hunters all day, every day!

Stopping by from SITS. I'm itching to put my tree up, but we don't decorate it until St. Nicholas Eve (Dec 5). I'm going to start putting up lights and stuff today though (after I take down all the fall decor).
ReplyDeleteI'm doing a giveaway on my blog. Stop by and enter if you like.
