Ever since I first saw the image above I've been completely smitten with the coffee table. It might be that the lines of the table vaguely reminds me of my own coffee table. When I purchased the table its finish was a rusty bronze. My blogging friend Karla, a professional home stager, suggested that painting it black might make it pop against my white sofa and neutral walls. The paint has been scuffed in a few areas and needs some touching up now and I'm considering going for the gold this time around.
Now that I've added chocolate brown walls and black and white accent chairs to the mix, I'm starting to question whether there are too many dark elements in my space. Add to that the fact that I saw a fabulous coffee table makeover on the Nate Berkus Show Tuesday by none other than Rashon Carraway, better known as Mr. Goodwill Hunting. Rashon painted a Salvation Army coffee table in an antique gold and I haven't stopped thinking about it since.

What do you think, should I go for the gold?

I think the gold would be a nice contrast to what you have going on and give the room some additional punch. Do what you love!
ReplyDeletedefinitely! you could always change it if you end up hating it.
ReplyDeleteDO IT!!!!! I've always loved that room and the gold table! GO FOR THE GOLD!!!!
ReplyDeleteYES! Go for the gold. You might try a professional finisher to get a really gold leaf type of finish with some depth as opposed to a flatter, spray on finish.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, do it! Great idea!
ReplyDeleteI vote "yes"! Definitely!
ReplyDeleteYes, yes, yes. I love the gold look and it is definitely the new metal of choice. Go for it. Hugs, marty
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely!! No doubt about it!!
ReplyDeleteI say go for it! It looks almost exactly like the inspiration photo, with the curves of the legs! It's beautiful now, but it will be a showstopper painted gold!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely. It will be stunning in your room. Go for gold Karen!!
ReplyDeleteAhem.
ReplyDeleteDO IT!
Thanks so much for enjoying my makeover!

Hey Karen, thanks for the mention. :) With your new darker walls, I think the pop of gold will look great. Go for it! I know the original silver didn't work for you but gold has so much more warmth so it should be a winner for sure.
ReplyDeleteI agree with what the other 'Carla' mentioned, a gold leaf effect will give it more depth and dimension opposed to a flat spray. Between the craft stores and hardware stores, I'm sure you'll find something that will give you that look. Can't wait to see it!
Do it!! Gold accents have totally grown on me, and look fabulous with brown. I bet a bit of gold will look great in your newly painted room. I'll be waiting to see what method you use. I have a mirror that I want to paint gold but wasn't thrilled with the spray paint options at Lowe's this weekend.
ReplyDeleteGo for the gold.......and treat yourself to the gold star treatment! I think it will be stunning!! You cannot go wrong!
ReplyDeleteDo it! What a great idea! I love the addition of gold in a space. I would make a great impact in your room!

Absolutely, go for the gold. A pop of gold would be beautiful in your room!
ReplyDeletewhile I love the new popoularity of gold and brass again I think your room would look better with a satin nickel finish adn you can pop that with some gold candlesticks, pic frames etc. Sorry...you asked. Seriously, go for what makes you happy...it;s only paint. Love your zebra pillow
ReplyDeleteI can definitely see why you were smitten with the first coffee table, LOVE IT! Nicolex
ReplyDeleteI like the table as it is but think you need to use bold colors sparingly in the room. Colors like apple green and fuscia add so much life! I really like your decorating style.
ReplyDeleteGo gold, absolutely. Love the room and the gold would just be the icing on the cake!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely,,,and throw in some pillows with gold fringe along with a few other accents to really tie it all together.
