Good wine and good food, temperatures in the low '60's, drives along the Bay and beautiful fall foliage were among the elements that made this past weekend one I didn't want to end. For the second year in a row my husband and I attended "Toast the Season", a wine tasting event hosted by The Leelanau Peninsula Vinter's Association in Northern Michigan. Included with our tickets were wine tasting and food pairings at the 19 participating vineyards.
On Friday, before the official tour began, we stopped at Chateau Chantal, a stunning bed and breakfast and vineyard on the Old Mission Peninsula in Traverse City, Michigan. We stayed here on our last visit but unfortunately it was completely booked for the weekend.

With all the wine and food being consumed on Saturday and Sunday we almost forgot to take pictures but we did manage a few.

Loved this sign we spotted at one of the wineries.
Pinot Noir at Ciccone Vineyard and Winery
Bower's Harbor Vineyard on the Old Mission Peninsula wasn't on the tour but we managed quick pit stop there on Friday. That's where I spotted a couple of uses for old wine bottles.

Our final stop on Sunday was Brengman Brothers at Crain Hill Vineyards

We enjoyed a glass of wine in front of a roaring fire on the outdoor patio. It was the perfect way to end the weekend. My husband snapped this picture just before we headed for home.
We're already planning next year's trip.
Looks like you had a wonderful trip Karen! Did you enjoy Leelanau Cellars new spot? I loved the view - it's like you are right on the water! I've never been to Brengman Brothers - I'll have to put that on the list for next year.
ReplyDeleteLooks like so much fun! Love the re-sue of the wine bottles. I love going wine tasting:)
ReplyDeleteI might need to join you next year - that sounds absolutely wonderful. I'd love to be there right now - how nice. So glad you had a great trip and enjoyed some good wine, good food, and good company.
ReplyDeleteKaren what a perfect trip!! I think this should become an annual event for you!! Thanks for sharing your trip with us,

Looks like a perfect weekend! I'm quite jealous ;-)
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a great time! Wine tasting is definitely one of our favorite things to do.
ReplyDeleteKaren, This is my kind of trip! Sounds so delightful!

Seriously...does it get any better than perfect fall weather and wine tasting?
ReplyDeleteGlad you guys had such a good time :)
Lovely photos! You look so relaxed. I wish it was socially acceptable to have a glass of wine with lunch while sitting in my office. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice weekend. I love the sign about the children, that is really funny.
ReplyDeleteReally and truly, is there anything more relaxing than hanging around a beautiful vineyard sipping fantastic wine? I think not (which may or may not be the reason I am now living in Canada's fabulous wine country:) Maybe some year your hubby and yourself could make this a destination!!
ReplyDeleteHi Karen,
ReplyDeleteI haven't visited in quite awhile and wanted to stop in and say Hi. I spent some time up in that area over the summer-- we stayed in Harbor Springs, about an hour or so from Traverse City. It certainly is beautiful and relaxing, any time of the year. Glad you had a good trip!
